Having been named Wine Supermarket of the Year at the IWSC 2022, British supermarket Waitrose continues to impress with its range of bottles that line the shelves. So how do they do it? In Episode 75 of The Drinking Hour podcast, host David Kermode is joined by Victoria Mason, a wine buyer at the supermarket.

Having started with the supermarket group as a graduate trainee, these days Victoria Mason has the fun job of sourcing wine for Waitrose from Italy and South Africa. Speaking with host David Kermode, Mason explains how she goes about her work as a buyer and how she found her way into wine (via world foods and garden plants), as well as sharing the latest trends for the supermarket – from South African old vine Chenin Blanc and the Italian Albarossa grape, to ethical sourcing and sustainable packaging.
