Best wines Morrisons lead

There has been change in the aisles at Morrisons over the last 12 months or so, as the Bradford-based chain fights to win back market share in the face of intense competition between Britain’s supermarkets but how has that impacted its drinks range and which bottles now represent the best Morrisons wine?

Although technically no longer one of ‘the big four’ supermarkets in the UK (it was recently overtaken by Aldi in terms of market share with Lidl not far behind), Morrisons has a wine offering similar to that of its traditional, bigger rivals, rather than the ‘discounters’. Introduced in the summer of 2025 and a significant development in the Morrisons wine range is the ‘Block Series’, a rolling collection from distinctive regions across the globe, each ‘carrying a story, a reflection of its heritage, and a celebration of terroir in its purest form’ according to the supermarket’s marketing blurb.

The Block Series range contains some of the best Morrisons wines

The limited-edition range represents a clear step up for the brand’s own-label wine offering, with a focus on typicity, provenance and style, and contains some of the best Morrisons wines. As you’ll see below, it includes standout bottles from Napa, the Loire, Georgia and beyond – many of which wouldn’t look out of place on the shelves in a specialist wine shop.

The Block Series seems like a statement of intent for a retailer trying to rediscover its mojo. The new range dominates the recommendations below but Morrisons’s wine buyers are also doing a good job with their well made, competitively priced, sparklers.

Taken as a whole, the current Morrisons wine range provides plenty for everyday drinkers and curious explorers alike to enjoy. Read on for ten of the best Morrisons wines.

What are the IWSC Drinks Supermarket of the Year Awards?

The IWSC Drinks Supermarket of the Year Awards were introduced to provide consumers with an in-depth evaluation of supermarkets’ alcoholic beverage offerings, inclusive of non-alcoholic alternatives. A panel of judges spend months evaluating the biggest UK retailers. Attending supermarket tastings forms part of this process, offering judges the chance to taste many of the wines available in-store and see how buyers are responding to trends and consumer demand.
