Many of us will be familiar with dependable red Montepulciano from Abruzzo, on Italy’s eastern flank, but the province has a fantastic white grape, Pecorino, worth shouting about. With a pithy nose of lemon zest and white grapefruit, bags of zippy freshness, smooth and supple citrus dominates this refreshing wine, which also boasts a gentle minerality. Crowd-pleasing, this versatile wine will pair well with Pecorino cheese (the grape was named in honour of the cheese many years ago).
