On Episode 51 of The Drinking Hour podcast, Susy Atkins reveals her ‘lightning bulb moment’ in wine – which happened for her back in the 1980s and while drinking a glass of Australian Chardonnay. The celebrated wine critic, author and journalist says the fruity, oaky glass was worlds away from the affordable wines available to students like herself at the time, and inspired what was to be decades of wine tasting and writing ahead.
Atkins joins host David Kermode to chart her successful career working for wine magazines, writing as a critic and even turning her hand to working with winemakers in Australia for the 1994 vintage.
