Wine book by Olly Smith

In the latest episode of The Drinking Hour podcast, David Kermode is joined by Olly Smith, TV presenter and writer, to discuss his new book, WINE: Everything You Need to Know. For more than two decades, Smith has delivered digestible and entertaining wine content to British television audiences, including as a member of the presenting team on the BBC’s Saturday Kitchen. He’s also a wine writer for the Mail on Sunday and curates the wine list for P&O’s The Glass House bar and restaurant.

Smith reveals how he went from TV writer to wine expert, a journey that included a winning a stint on Hardy’s-backed Wine Idol in 2005. Today, Smith is driven by a desire to make wine as accessible as possible and his latest book is part of that mission. Describing it as a ‘love letter to wine’, Smith explains what sets the book apart from similar titles, including chapters that focus on wines of personal significance.

WINE: Everything You Need to Know is out now.
