With a wine writing career spanning 60 years, it’s safe to say Hugh Johnson is one of the most well-known and beloved names in the industry. Johnson has a whole host of other accolades to his name: he’s been president of The Sunday Times Wine Club since its inception in 1973 and is author of the seminal The World Atlas of Wine, which has been released in eight editions since its first publication, and is now co-authored by the renowned Jancis Robinson.
Johnson joins host David Kermode on episode 73 of The Drinking Hour podcast to discuss his life in wine – from his beginnings in the Cambridge University Wine and Food Society to releasing his best-selling wine books – and the key moments that pepper his new autobiography, The Life and Wines of Hugh Johnson.
