Prosecco’s popularity has risen beyond even the heights of the UNESCO World Heritage hills in which its grapes are grown. It’s hard to believe that just two decades ago, the fizz was hardly drunk outside of Italy; now, every major UK supermarket carries at least one bottle of the Northern Italian bubbles. On Episode 70 of The Drinking Hour podcast, host David Kermode is singing Prosecco‘s praises.
Kermode is joined by expert on the drink Neil Phillips as well as Prosecco producer Villa Sandi’s export director, Flavio Geretto, to help raise a glass in celebration of Prosecco Day. The trio chart the history of the sparkling wine, explore what made it so globally successful, and discuss how best to enjoy the bubbles.
