Sukhinder Singh is the co-founder of The Whisky Exchange and MD of Elixir Distillers. He was named the IWSC’s Industry Champion for 2024.

For episode 159 of The Drinking Hour, Singh joins David Kermode to talk about his journey in spirits and retail, including the family off-licence of his childhood, his early passion for collecting miniatures, the growth of The Whisky Exchange and the prospect of creating whisky with a new distillery on Islay called Portintruan. He tells the stories of paying £1,000 for a collection of 7,000 miniatures and of an influential bottle of Black Bowmore. The duo discuss the approach to and future of whisky at Portintruan and Singh’s plans as this year’s IWSC Industry Champion.
