Vouvray wines have rapidly increased in popularity in the UK over the last couple of years

In the latest episode of The Drinking Hour, David Kermode heads to the Loire Valley to learn about all things Vouvray. Chatting with Cassandra Feray of Château  Moncontour and Jean de Saint Venant of Château de Valmer, the trio leave no stone unturned, as they talk about the diversity of the Vouvray’s terroir, the complexity and adaptability of Chenin Blanc, and the many different winemaking styles to come from the region.

Originating in 1936, the Vouvray AOC comprises just 150 estates spread over 2300 hectares. Growing in popularity, today the UK has seen a rise in sales from Vouvray, up 12% in sparkling and 45% for still. The trio look at the many different styles of wine that are available in the Vouvray, from sparkling to sweet, whilst exploring exactly what it is about the region which makes these wines so special.
