A very hot and dry growing season led to a very muscular, ripe incarnation of Saffredi, perhaps lacking the freshness of other vintages. Aromas of tobacco leaf sit atop ripe berries with hints of spice. The tannins are firm and make a strong impression on the palate. Needs time.
