The Errázuriz Wine Photographer of the Year 2025 shortlist has been revealed, offering new perspectives on the people, places and produce in vineyards and wineries around the world. Showcasing the effort that goes into wine production and snapshots from the lives of workers and the wines themselves, this year’s entries span everywhere from the Elqui Valley in Chile to the north-west region of Tenerife.

One standout shot in 2025 shows a hand cloaked in a viscous, red liquid on the ledge of a window, leaving a trail in its wake. It could almost pass as a still from an ’80s slasher movie but peer through the hatch and it soon becomes apparent that this is a different kind of lifeblood altogether: Syrah in the vat.

Taken by photographer Franck Tremblay at Domaine Alain Graillot in Crozes-Hermitage, this is one of the year’s striking images in the Produce category. It forms part of a strong showing from inside the winery throughout entries to the Wine Photographer of the Year 2025 shortlist, where producers are caught clambering in and out of ancient wine presses and impressively sized vats and barrels.

The collection of images also provides a sideways look at life in the vineyard

The collection of images also provides a sideways look at life in the vineyard: witness the noble majesty of a twisted, gnarly old vine captured in close-up or a sunrise procession through Burgundy’s Côte de Nuits that more than hints at the region’s religious levels of devotion to its viticultural pursuits.

The annual shortlist forms a part of the World Food Photography Awards, with categories judged by industry experts and fellow photographers, and with the finalists’ work exhibited in London over the summer months.

Ahead of the reveal of this year’s winners, which will be announced on Tuesday 20 May, we’re sharing some of our highlights across the People, Places and Produce categories – images that solidify the ideals of terroir and human endeavour that go into making our favourite wines.
