Where do you stand on red wine with fish? On Episode 282 of The Drinking Hour podcast, host David Kermode is joined by author Charlotte Kristensen, known as @thelondonwinegirl on Instagram, who shares her hot takes on food-and-wine pairing fresh off the back of her latest book release, Wine and Dine at Home. Inspired by her wine-pairing column in the Mail on Sunday’s You magazine, Kristensen’s second book is a collection of her favourite dish recipes together with the wines she would pour alongside each.

Her and Kermode talk about how she left a career as a lawyer to pursue the ‘pleasure and passion’ of wine full-time, and with the aim of making wine feel as accessible as food for her followers. Kristensen also shares a few of her favourite food-and-drink combinations from the book, from a rich white Rioja with a slow-cooked shoulder of lamb to a glass of Cava with a truffle cheese toastie.
