Aman New York
New York, USA
The redevelopment of New York’s striking Crown Building (renamed in the ‘80s to better reflect its shiny, regal outward appearance) is in order to create an inner-city sanctuary. The building’s 26 storeys already afford epic views out across Central Park, but to it the Aman Group is adding 38 rooms, a jazz club and a garden terrace and bar – not to mention a three-floor spa filled with day beds and fire pits. It looks set to be a prime location for unwinding after you’ve explored an unforgettable cocktail scene in the city that never sleeps.

COMO Le Montrachet
Burgundy, France
Italian wine lovers may be acquainted with Como’s stunning hotel in the heart of Tuscany. Now the group has set its sights on another famous wine region. It’s taking over Burgundy’s 18th century property Hotel Le Montrachet, with its transformation being unveiled in phases across four buildings, all ranged around a charming village square in Puligny-Montrachet. As with other hotels in the portfolio, the emphasis within the Côte D’Or property will be on fine dining (and, of course, fine wine) and elegant design.

Four Seasons Resort Tamarindo

The secret might be officially out on the Costa Alegre, a rugged stretch of relatively untouched coastline in the south of Mexico’s Jalisco district. From here, the Four Seasons Tamarindo will offer private residences and deluxe rooms, plus an incredibly desirable beach bar. Jalisco is the home of Tequila, of course – so you can hope for some world-class Palomas and Margaritas from your perch at that bar.

Gleneagles Townhouse
Edinburgh, UK
Scotland’s iconic Gleneagles country estate – one of the best hotels for Scotch whisky fans – is headed for the city. The Gleneagles Townhouse will launch this spring in Edinburgh and will comprise of 33 rooms, a private members’ club and a rooftop bar from which to enjoy some top-drawer drams of Scotch – along with views across to Edinburgh Castle.

Mondrian Bordeaux
Bordeaux, France
Set to take over a 19th-century building along Bordeaux’s Gironde Estuary is the latest Mondrian outpost. Not much is known about the hotel yet, but it promises classic European design elements, a spa and a bar-lounge where you’d hope to see some star selections from the region’s prized vineyards.

One&Only Aesthethis
Athens, Greece
This beachfront hotel on the Athenian Riviera offers access to thermal springs, secluded coves and six hectares of forest, all on the doorstep of the Greek capital and its burgeoning wine bar scene. The hotel itself will house 127 rooms, spa facilities and two restaurants dedicated to championing regional produce – Greece’s diverse and increasingly popular native grape varieties included.

Raffles London at the OWO

Following a five year renovation, Raffles is finally set to launch its London outpost, taking over the city’s Old War Office – the former home of the Ministry of Defence and where Sir Winston Churchill had his base at one time. It’ll offer 120 rooms and suites, although its line-up of a total of 11 restaurants and bars might be the most exciting element – after all, the original Singapore Raffles retreat gave the world The Singapore Sling cocktail.

Stanly Ranch

More than a hotel, Stanly Ranch has ambitions to create a community when it opens later this year on the edge of Napa Valley. 78 standalone cottages and suites will take over a working ranch, each one appointed with luxurious fittings and private terraces that come complete with fire pits and overlook the surrounding vineyards. A number of restaurants promise to champion local produce, while a pool bar at the heart of it all is supposedly channelling Provence through its design and ethos.
