Lovely fresh nose with cassis and earth, hints of herb and oak. Excellent palate, spicy, fresh, bolstered by firm robust tannins and racy acicity. The whole gives an impression of youth – primary fruit flavours and tightly-wound tannic structure. Slightly closed at the moment (the bottles have been open an hour and double-decanted) but the there is a good wash of juice at the end that promises much. The owner Loïc Pasquet speaks of a very long life for his wines. This will certainly go on for a decade and more but time will tell how those tannins will soften.
