I was very pleasantly surprised to see this parcel of aged Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon from well-known producer Santa Rita on the Lidl list. A ‘proper’ wine, this is a savoury and brooding textbook Cabernet from the Maipo Valley packed full of blackcurrant leaf, dark plum and bramble fruit with firm tannins and refreshing lift of acidity. Definitely a food wine, this will especially love grilled meat or vegetables.
