Lambrusco has retro appeal, as the sweet style was a smash hit in the seventies, but dry Lambrusco finds itself thoroughly in tune with the times and the fashion for chilled reds, in this case with added bubbles. This great value example comes from an accomplished producer, Medici Ermete in Emilia-Romagna, and it’s absolutely delicious, with red cherry, juicy blackberry and a savoury charcuterie undertow. Do what they do in its native Bologna and pair with a meaty pasta sauce.
