Red wine

Cullen, Diana Madeline 2002

90

A cool, even vintage. Far more developed in terms of both colour and fruit than the 2004. Savoury and quite developed, with black cherry and plum fruit tinged with earthy petrichor. There’s a bloody, ferrous character on the finish. Great freshness but perhaps just starting to dry out on the finish. At peak. (It’s worth noting that this wine, sealed with cork, seemed to show far more bottle variation than later vintages, all sealed with screwcaps.)
