‘Not a great vintage’ but a ‘belle réussite’; a recurring theme of the tasting and a fair one for the best wines, such as this. Gazin in 2017 is made up of 95% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Franc, the Cabernet Sauvignon not having made the final cut. The nose recalls graphite, tar and even roses; on the palate there is dark chocolate and berry fruits. The length impresses.
