2. Pettarin Ribolla Gialla

Miani, Pettarin Ribolla Gialla 2016 (Ribolla Gialla )

RRP £108

Three criteria are required to make world-class Ribolla Gialla white wines – extremely low yields, hillside locations and very old vines – but few spots, unfortunately, meet them. The grape is increasingly used to make orange wine, and that’s a shame. Miani’s wine, from 50-year-old vines, is one of Italy’s five or 10 best white wines. It can easily age for a decade or more, and it exudes memorable honeyed, orchard-fruit nuances.
