Ata Rangi Craighall Chardonnay

Ata Rangi, Craighall Chardonnay 2011

RRP N/A in UK

Quite a pungent nose of hazelnuts, toasted lemon, apricot, pear and some dried fruits. There’s a beautiful feeling of breadth on the palate but with a truly Old World line and focus. Truly, exceptionally long with a focus on an incredible lemon curd and lime zest finish. There’s an almost kerosene, petrol-note too. The acidity here (and in the 2017) certainly seems to prop up Master’s belief that the Mendoza clone (which seems to have gone out of favour a bit in other parts) here really holds its acidity. Fantastic.
