Clos de Bèze

Domaine Pierre Damoy, Clos de Bèze, 2003

A voluptuous, hedonistic wine. Full-throttle spicy unctuousness. The texture is smoothly chunky, with ripe and chocolatey tannins. On first opening, this was a wine of disparate parts and quite heavy. However, 36 hours later it started to come together, and I really enjoyed the rose-petal aromatics that come through on the powerful finish. It needs time to refine and become more precise, but goodness me, there is plenty of pleasure to be had.
