Weingut Türk

In the heart of Austria’s Kremstal region, where winemaking traditions and innovation meet, Weingut Türk has been cultivating vines for generations. The family-owned estate, with a 300-year tradition, means 300 years of accumulated wine knowledge, constantly growing and passed down since the 18th century. Led by winemaker Franz Türk, the estate focuses on sustainable and organic viticulture and precision in the cellar.

The family’s deep connection to the land and passion for expressing terroir drive every step of production. Together with a dedicated team, they craft wines that reflect authenticity, character and a clear sense of origin. They have learned to listen, to observe, react and cultivate with one goal: to bring the character of their loess, bedrock and conglomerate soils directly and impressively into the glass. This requires tact and experience, which they bring in and build upon day after day.

The greatest joy lies in transforming what nature gives into something expressive and lasting. Each vintage is a new challenge, shaped by weather, soil and intuition. For Franz Türk, the typical character of each site with its own microclimate and the weather is a new challenge year after year. It combines careful observation, gentle response and determination when action needs to be taken quickly to ensure the quality of the wine. Watching the grapes evolve into wines that speak of their origin is deeply rewarding. The process combines craftsmanship, patience and creativity whilst maintaining respect for nature’s rhythm.

The wines are a true reflection of Kremstal’s distinctive terroir, marked by loess soils, cool nights and the Danube’s moderating influence. More than 75% of the vineyards are planted with Grüner Veltliner, a variety with a wide and expressive taste profile, served in styles from a light-bodied aperitif to the strong mineral climax of a full-bodied wine of the evening. Each wine bears the hallmark of Franz Türk’s meticulous craftsmanship: clarity, purity and balance. Natural growth, healthy development of the grapes and ideal maturity are integral steps on the way to the best wine. They do not release young wines with primary fruit aromas that disappoint in taste. Even their Grüner Veltliner Der Leichte, which means “The light one”, is only released after extended ageing on the fine lees. They give all their wines the time they need for perfect maturity and full taste. This unique combination of heritage, sustainability and uncompromising quality defines the unmistakable style of Weingut Türk.
