Rye whiskey was America’s favourite spirit before Prohibition, its bold, spicy flavour resonating with generations of Americans who knew a thing or two about hard times. Following Prohibition, rye whiskey largely disappeared, yet America’s character and resolve did not. Redemption Whiskey was founded with a mission to bring rye whiskey back to the forefront of American whiskey culture, inspired by pre-Prohibition recipes that bring forth truly distinctive rye-forward notes. The team is passionate, united by the belief that whiskey should be bold, distinctive and expressive of its rye-forward heritage.  

At Redemption, they work with some of the best distillery partners in the world. Their goal is to create whiskeys that have soul and recreate their fondest memories to share with consumers through nuanced blends and taste profiles. Everyone involved, from the distillers to the blenders and the storytellers, shares that commitment to quality and innovation. The collective expertise is what drives Redemption forward. 

Originally hailing from Nashville, Tennessee, and currently residing in Lexington, Kentucky, Master Blender Alan Kennedy has a deep passion for whiskey-making that stems from an extensive career in the culinary, hospitality and wine and spirits industries. Alan’s journey began in culinary school where he trained as a classical pastry chef and became a certified sommelier, which he credits for building the foundation of his technical expertise. He then moved to the rolling hills of Kentucky, where he has spent most of his career working in whiskey.  

For Alan, no two days are the same, and that’s what keeps it exciting. “Some days I’m working with farmers to hand-select grains that bring out rye’s spice and floral notes. Others, I’m in the rickhouse tasting barrels, tracking their progress, or blending whiskeys as they near maturity,” he explains. “At every stage, I’m thinking about how flavours will connect with people. Whiskey carries a sense of memory, a spice note that recalls a holiday meal, or a sweetness that echoes a favourite dessert. My role is to shape those experiences, coaxing out rye’s best qualities so each sip feels alive.” The most rewarding part is knowing that every bottle of Redemption has the power to spark flavour and feeling. Whether shared with friends, poured around the table with family or savoured in a quiet moment all your own, they’re offering the chance to create memorable personal experiences that leave a lasting impression.
