The story of Familia Torres began in 1870 with Jaime and Miguel Torres, who established the company and built the first winery and headquarters in the Penedès region of Barcelona. What started as a family aspiration soon evolved into a tradition of excellence. The second generation, under the guidance of Juan Torres Casals, embarked on distilling and crafting brandy of remarkable quality in 1928, turning out mature brandy aged in soft and scented oak barrels from a selection of the best grapes in the Penedès. Today, Juan Torres Master Distillers proudly upholds this legacy with more than 90 years of experience.  

What truly sets Torres Brandy and the spirits apart is the harmonious balance struck between tradition and innovation. They are not content to rest solely on historical achievements, instead looking to the future with enthusiasm, continually asking what the next chapter might hold. A prime example of this forward-thinking approach is Torres Alta Luz, launched in 2021 as the world’s first cristalino brandy, made entirely from grapes and distilled in Barcelona. This distinctive and aromatic brandy undergoes a refined carbon-filtering process, resulting in an exceptionally pure, crystal-clear aged brandy with delicate notes of jasmine, blossoms, fresh grapes and a subtle touch of vanilla, an experience that is at once timeless and contemporary. 

The portfolio reflects decades of mastery: Torres 20 has earned multiple awards as Best Brandy in the World at the International Wine & Spirit Competition and San Francisco World Spirits Competition. Jaime I, aged in American oak and inspired by the company’s founder, won Best Brandy in the World at the World Brandy Awards in 2015. Torres 15, a versatile brandy crafted for mixing and paying homage to the golden age of cocktail culture, was named Best Solera Brandy in the World in 2017. The range also includes Magdala Orange Liqueur, made by steeping orange peel in grape brandy and ageing it in old oak casks for a silky, aromatic finish, and Casals Vermouth, launched in 2023 as the first vermouth made from ancestral Catalan grape varieties, infused with Mediterranean botanicals from Penedès.
