Elixir Distillers is a family-run business, founded by Sukhinder and Rajbir Singh in 2002 and rooted in a deep passion for flavour and sharing exceptional spirits. Since they began, they’ve been proud of their independence as a creator, blender and bottler showcasing some of the world’s finest whiskies and rums. Today, they export brands including Port Askaig, Elements of Islay, Single Malts of Scotland and Black Tot Rum to more than 40 international markets. Every member of the team is a spirits enthusiast with immense product knowledge, looking to produce the world’s next great drink.
Led by industry champion Sukhinder Singh, the company is defined by attention to detail. From their earliest days selling and understanding whisky through to meticulous cask selection and now creating whisky themselves, they’ve developed what can only be described as an obsession with how a spirit matures and transforms to shape the final product’s depth and character. Today, they are in the midst of the renaissance of Tormore distillery in Speyside and in the latter stages of building one of the most important modern distilleries on Islay, if not the world: Portintruan. They’re thrilled to pour all that experience and obsession back into their own distillates now with complete control over the process from start to finish.
What the team enjoys most is uncovering hidden potential within spirits, new makes and casks alike, and guiding their journey to their final flavourful evolution. Their greatest joy remains the same: unlocking layers of flavour hidden within spirits through a continuous process of learning and innovation instilled through their independent roots.
At Elixir Distillers, the goal is to create exceptional spirits across their brands that are made to be enjoyed by both curious newcomers and seasoned connoisseurs. With careful consideration to flavour development and price accessibility, they’ve built a reputation for producing some of the most respected independent bottlings in the industry.
A standout example of their blending expertise is Black Tot Historic Solera. This one-of-a-kind rum is a blend of aged spirits from across the Caribbean, which are additionally matured for a year in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks. From there, they age further in their purpose-built ‘sherry style’ Solera system, unique to rum. It’s a perfect expression of their philosophy: honouring traditional techniques of navy rum processes that inspired the Black Tot brand, whilst evolving with the times to deliver a truly flavourful experience for the modern palate.
