Bostogana

Georgia

Bostogana is a wine brand produced by Gumbati LLC, located in Kakheti, in the historic Kiziki region of Georgia. Founded in 2021 by a group of passionate individuals, the winery has followed the path of their ancestors from the very beginning, keeping their traditions alive and making wine with the same respect and honesty they had. People often ask why the brand shows a warrior. The answer is simple: people from Kiziki have always been warriors, loyal to their king, their land and their word. Just like them, they never betray their values or the people who love their wine.

The vineyard lies in the unique microzone of Tibaani, and they take care of it like family. They believe that if you do something, you must do it well. They never offer wine they wouldn’t drink themselves. Their wine must be something people can enjoy all their lives. That’s what Bostogana is about: honest wine, honest people and true Kiziakian spirit.

For winemaker Simon Bostoganashvili, everything starts in the vineyard. “Watching the young shoots grow and carefully shaping each vine is a true joy,” he explains. “Every wine needs individual attention. You must give it the right form and care to help it develop properly. This close connection with nature is deeply satisfying.” When the grapes ripen beautifully, he feels the reward for all his effort. Then comes fermentation, a living, dynamic process where every step influences the next. “If you miss something early on, it will show in the final result. The aromas during fermentation are truly special, warm, natural and full of life. There is no other scent like it.” Seeing the transformation of grapes into wine, step by step, gives him real happiness. “It’s a process that combines patience, skill and emotion, the essence of why I love making wine.”

The wines are born in the historic Tibaani microzone, a terroir that has existed for centuries. This land gives the grapes their distinctive character, shaped by the sun, soil and centuries of tradition. Their ancestors cultivated these vineyards long before them, and they see it as their duty to care for this terroir and share the true spirit of the Kakheti region with the world. They combine traditional Georgian winemaking methods, like fermenting grapes in qvevri, underground clay vessels, with modern techniques to create wines that balance authenticity and innovation.

The brand values reflect the character of the people behind Bostogana. A word backed by action and personal example is a true word, one you have the right to speak boldly and that people will believe. With them, “it’s fine” is never enough. If you do something, do it well and with care. Every task needs order and discipline. Loyalty is their heritage, to their land, their truth and their wine.
