It’s quite a feat to run the show for a brand new edition of Hugh Johnson’s much-loved Pocket Wine Book. Editor and wine writer Margaret Rand takes it in her stride, though, and has compiled the newest release of the book using her own extensive wine knowledge, and by working with 31 contributors on the ground in some of the world’s most important wine regions.
The book is in its 45th year of publication, and is lauded as one of the most comprehensive wine books available. The new edition reveals which vintages to buy, which to drink and which to cellar, as well as the growers to look out for and why.
In the latest episode of The Drinking Hour podcast, Margaret Rand joins host David Kermode to discuss the new edition of the Pocket Wine Book, released this November 2022. The pair also reflect on Rand’s many successful years of wine writing and criticism.
