Served from jeroboam, the pale colour belies its age. The nose is open: mushroom, truffle, butterscotch and toast all vie for attention. The palate is striking, not least because of the impeccable freshness and acidity on the mid-palate. Lime, mushrooms and hazelnuts fill the mouth. The length, depth and complexity of the 1989 are outstanding.
