Greek wines are rightly all the rage at the moment, so it’s great to see a major retailer getting a little more daring and moving beyond Assyrtiko. From the cool highlands of Macedonia in the north-west of Greece, produced by a highly regarded winery, Alpha Estate, this aromatic Malagouzia offers an intriguing mix of exotic fruits balanced by a pithy lime acidity, with lovely filo-like layers of delicate textural complexity. Sadly only available in a handful of stores, it’s worth putting in your trolley if you see it.
