A jaw-dropping Petite Champagne Cognac combining (mainly) 1938 with a bit of 1941 and 1942, aged for 60 years in a Limousin oak cask located in a dry cellar, before spending 20 more years in glass demijohns. Remarkably vibrant, it shows punchy tropical fruit notes, alongside a slight herbal/ liquorice bitterness, beeswax, leather and fresh-tilled earth. Yes, it’s nearly £1,000 a bottle, but how much would you have to spend on a single malt of similar age and provenance?
