2016 is described as a “near perfect” vintage in Napa. There is such promise on the nose, it’s deep, and rich, and spicy, with lush dark fruit. The palate is opulent and concentrated: the wine was poured at least 2 hours ago and has mellowed in the glass; the tannins are bright, freshened by excellent acidity. The length is amazing, continuing to wash the palate with juice for minutes on end. An extraordinarily fine wine, absolutely of its place. A triumph
