The nose is savoury, herbal, even with a hint of meat. The palate is fresh, so youthful, the tannins tight without being massive. There’s fine black fruit, damp earth, notes of herb, but all that is restrained now. The whole is coiled, tightly-wound, and as with the best of these wines, a fine spray of juice at the end which promises to freshen the tannins and open up the wine over the years. I think it will be incredible by the end of the decade, and for long after that.
