Although reasonably priced for Pinot Noir, this entry level example from the Martin Wassmer in the amusingly-named Baden town of Schlatt, is proper Pinot, with a fine fragrance combining touches of vanilla oak and sweet almond, and delivering a sour black cherry fruitiness ripened by the Baden sun, a light infusion of with oak adding gentle grip to the wine’s savoury freshness.
