Bottled in 2017, this reverses the ‘normal’ initial ageing in ex-bourbon, spending 12 years in ex-Madeira casks and then two in ex-bourbon. The result is an upping of blue fruit, cassis and vanilla – it has almost Napa Cabernet elements. There’s less oak than in the Triptych, but an almost smoky element develops in time. The palate is sweet with some lactone, cinnamon, burned caramel, vanilla and melting chocolate.
