Panos Kakaviatos

Club Oenologique contributor

A Greek-American from Washington D.C., Panos Kakaviatos wears several hats.

Before his first published article on wine back in 2001, he earned degrees in political economy and communications, which led to his current media relations work as a spokesperson for the Council of Europe in Strasbourg, France. The city provides an ideal springboard for his regular visits to vineyards in Alsace, Bordeaux, Burgundy, Champagne, and the Rhone, among other wine regions in Europe.

An experienced journalist, having worked for the Associated Press, his work is published by many wine and food outlets, and he also manages his own blog wine-chronicles.com.

A former sommelier, fluent in English, French, German and Greek, he organises educational wine tasting dinners with the French Embassy in Washington D.C. and with top hotel restaurant staff in Europe. He is also invited each year to judge at international wine competitions.
