From one of the Rheingau’s top producers, Gunter Künstler (the name, aptly, means artist) in Hochheim, this pale golden dry Riesling smells of ripe fruit and while the first sensation is of a youthful fresh pétillance, the ripeness theme develops with flavours of stone fruit whose underlying streak of pineappley freshness acts as the second balancing feature of a full-flavoured, drink-me-now Riesling in a sunny vintage. By no means a travesty to drink now.
