The celebrated, world-famous wine region of Bordeaux is famed for its red wines, particularly its blends – and it’s no wonder, as red wines account for 85% of production. While the area is steeped in history, and previous styles of red wine produced here have been rich and full-bodied, a modern style of red has become increasingly popular with winemakers and drinkers.

In this week’s episode of The Drinking Hour podcast, one such producer of a lighter, fresher Bordeaux blend, Quentin Vidal of Château Laulan joins host David Kermode. The pair discuss this evolving style, and Kermode even creates his own red blend to be judged by some of the area’s most renowned wine producers.
