In episode 191 of The Drinking Hour, host David Kermode and his guests Jacques-Henri Brive and Sandy Hyslop discuss the new Chivas Brothers visitor experience called The Vault.

Brive covers what exactly is on offer, expounding on the 14 unique casks in The Vault taken from across the vast Chivas Brothers inventory, none of which have previously been available for purchase. He outlines the journey for visitors, who have the chance to tour through Strathisla distillery, the oldest operating distillery in Scotland, before being lead through to the archive lounge, which contains artefacts from Chivas Brothers’ history. Finally, guests reach The Vault itself, a space that is normally kept under lock and key thanks to the rare and precious casks contained within.

Brive’s colleague Hyslop explains his selection process for the casks and delves into why the experience is so important to him at this stage in his 40-year long career.

Finally, the duo cover the growth of premium whisky tourism, touching on some of the new Chivas Brothers distillery experiences, and share just how curious whisky fans can get involved.
