In episode 211 of The Drinking Hour podcast, David Kermode is joined by Clare Whitehead and Luke Wolfe of Whitewolfe to chat all things English Chardonnay and the future for still English wines.

Clare is currently head of education at Liberty Wines and Luke manages Agro-Pro, a vineyard management service that specialises in cool climate viticulture. Both Clare and Luke met each other at Plumpton College, where they were inspired to start making their own wine.

With years of experience working for Chapel Down, Luke was charmed by the Kit’s Coty region of Kent and the outstanding English Chardonnay that grew within this small pocket of land. In turn, both he and Clare decided to focus solely on crafting still Chardonnays, earning Whitewolfe the title as the first single-variety vineyard in the UK. Listen to the episode now to learn more about the trials and tribulations of establishing a wine estate, and the growing excitement behind still English wine.
