As well as being a keen surfer, Johan Reyneke is something of a champion of biodynamics in South Africa. He is also a driving force behind the Cape’s Chenin resurgence. This wine comes from old (40-years-plus) vines, biodynamically farmed. It’s a richly framed, complex rendering with weight and poise – ripe, honeyed tropical fruits on the nose, the classic ‘damp straw’ touch, and a nice balance of creamy but zesty fruit on the palate.
