Bordeaux makes too much wine and sales have slumped, so there are bargains to be had and the Majestic team has done very well to source this eight-year-old white Bordeaux from Pessac-Léognan, in the northern part of Graves, in its optimum drinking window. Though it has some age, it’s still full of va-va-voom, with a leafy nose of orchard fruits and pithy citrus, hay and a hint of tropical fruit on the palate, which is at once smooth, succulent and satisfying. Serve alongside tarragon roast chicken and the trimmings.
