Dating back to 1685, Klein Constantia is much more famous for its iconic sweet wine, Vin de Constance – a favourite of Napoleon – but winemaker Matt Day is a self-confessed ‘Sauvignon nut’ and this is a personal favourite. The nose is elegant and restrained, reflecting the palate, which offers nuanced citrus and wet-stone minerality, with well-judged weight and texture from the lees. Fresh and serene, grilled goat’s cheese would be an exquisite match.
