As a vigorous and naturally high-yielding varietal, white Grenache needs very careful management to produce concentrated and characterful wines. This organic example from Benufet in Catalonia achieves this difficult task with aplomb: vines between 30 and 90 years old are managed tightly to give very low yields, resulting in a densely flavourful white with abundant notes of ripe peaches and yellow plums. The fleshy, fruit-driven palate leads to a fresh finish with hints of bitter almond and grapefruit peel; a lightly savoury finale that will make this an ideal wine to pair with food.
