It may be rare to call out a Marlborough Sauvignon as a top choice from a tasting but this ticked all the boxes with an unexpected degree of class. Very typical but without being over the top or confected, there are notes of pea shoot, asparagus and tomato leaf. Falls a touch short compared to the best of the region but great value.
