Deep lemon colour. The rich nose comes with fruity Meunier power supported by oaky tones from fermentation and 11 months’ ageing in 228-liter oak barrels. In addition to appley primary fruit, there are roasted almond tones, bonfire and dried fruit layers. It opens up nicely in the glass, with the fruit and oak finding fine harmony. There is attractive concentration and vinosity to the round, fleshy palate. The balanced, brisk acidity adds to the freshness on the palate, leading to a flavourful, bone-dry finish. It will be intriguing to see this wine evolve as the oakiness mellows, generating even more vinous layers and complexity. Disgorged 04/22; dosage 1g/l
