Having started his vineyard in 2005, Benoit Courault now embodies the second wave of vignerons who intend to produce great dry Chenins, such as this Gilbourg, on the superb terroirs of the Coteaux du Layon. A blend of several plots aged in wood, the 2022 expresses both the tannic smokiness of the schist and the delicious bittersweet acidity of crabapple and quince.
