Aldi, Baron Amarillo Specially Selected Albariño 2023

Such is the popularity of Albariño, from the Rías Baíxas on Spain’s north-westerly corner, that there are sadly some disappointing examples out there, but this is not one of them. Exhibiting salty freshness, the nose is like a windy walk along a coastal path, while the palate plumps up the underlying minerality with ripe peach, nectarine and tangy lemon. Frankly, this would be a steal at twice the price.
