St Julien

Château Beychevelle, St Julien, 2017

RRP £354

The gentle alluvial slopes were spared the frost visited upon other parts of the estate. A short but sweet crop therefore, and a wine which is approachable and yet evolving impressively, early brambly and hedgerow notes giving way to more traditional descriptors – amongst them, cassis, cigar box and soft spice. A fascinating Beychevelle; one to watch, for several different reasons.
