Irish whiskey Whiskey
Scotch Malt Whisky Society, Bushmills 2001 17 Year Old
RRP £120
The date on the label says 1608, This was when a local land owner was granted a licence to distil. The distillery was actually built in 1784, so still not young and has been in continuous operation since 1885. This whisky has typical confected tropical fruits of pineapple mixed with vanilla fudge. On the palate it is like fairy cakes with butter icing with hints of lemon. Creamy in texture it is sweet with notes of Parma violets.
