Red wine
Peter Michael Winery, Le Caprice 2016
RRP £170
Aromas of bright cherry fruit mix with hints of raspberry, while flavours of lush cherry and raspberry give a delicate, soft acidity and rich round, silky texture. Hints of herbs linger on the finish. On the fleshy side, and missing some snap, but it’s hard to argue with these flavours. Planted at a height of 1,025–1,450ft, this vineyard has incredibly steep slopes, some approaching a 50% grade, making it extremely challenging to farm. Le Caprice means ‘the frolic’ or ‘the whim’.
